For Your Own Good

I’ve spent the majority of the last two weeks staring at a door God has chosen to close. I’ve knocked on it, jiggled the handle, and even kicked it a few times but it still won’t open. My mind doesn’t see why the door would be closed, so the answer has been hard to accept.

Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever wanted to venture off, blaze a new trail, and start something completely different only to be stopped in your tracks? What about the things that aren’t so different? Sometimes opportunities fit with the direction you are moving in, but for whatever reason, God says no. How do you respond?

While I’m happy to say I haven’t pitched a fit about this particular decision, I am disappointed by how long I’ve stared at the closed door. I’m getting better about accepting God’s direction, but it still can be such a challenge. Have you ever heard the saying “Sometimes we need to say no to something good to say yes to something better”? That’s what God is doing. He is re-directing me from something that seems like a good option to the opportunity that best fit the plans He has for me. I just have to trust Him.

Have you been spending time staring at a closed door? Has God made a decision about an opportunity, a job, or a relationship that you don’t agree with or wish was different? God will only tell us no for our own good, we just have to trust He plans to say yes to something so much better! When God closes a door He opens a window… let’s go enjoy the view!

Be blessed,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Ugh. Oh, how well I know the feeling. It's sickening. It hurts. I keep wondering if it's just a mistake and the real answer will be coming soon.

But I'm slowly learning that He, indeed, is in control. And whether I like it or not, His ways are truly better than mine.

Praying for you to get a glimpse of the good coming from this disappointment.

Love you!
